Vision Board Night with Kids: A Fun Summer Activity the Whole Family Will Love

vision board night2

I have been doing vision boards at the end of every year for as long as I can remember. It is honestly one of my favorite traditions. There is something so powerful about sitting down and getting intentional about your goals. Putting them somewhere you can see them every day makes such a difference. But here is the thing, you do not have to wait until December! A vision board night with kids is the perfect summer activity. It is especially great when school is out and you are looking for something fun and meaningful to do together.

It is a great way to get kids thinking about what they want and what excites them. They get to think about what they are looking forward to, all while cutting, gluing, and getting creative. And the best part? You can order almost everything you need straight from Amazon. Have it delivered right to your door and you are ready to go. Here is everything you need to make your vision board night a success!

Thought Starters Before You Begin

Before everyone starts flipping through magazines and cutting things out, take a few minutes as a family to talk about goals. This is one of my favorite parts of the whole night. For kids, ask them what they want to learn this year, what they want to do for fun, where they would love to travel, or what kind of person they want to be.

For adults, think about financial goals — are you saving for something big? Vacation goals — where do you want to go? Personal goals — what do you want to read, try, or accomplish? Health goals, relationship goals, career goals — everything is fair game. Writing down a few ideas before you start cutting helps everyone go into it with intention instead of just grabbing random pictures, and it makes the finished vision boards so much more personal and meaningful.

1. Washable Markers for the Kids

You are going to want to let the kids write and decorate their boards and these washable markers are perfect for exactly that. They are bright, easy to use, and washable which means you do not have to stress about them ending up somewhere they should not. Let the kids go wild writing their goals, drawing pictures, and adding their own personal touch to their boards.

2. Colorful Sharpies for the Adults

For the adults at the table, thVision board nightese colorful Sharpies are my absolute favorite for vision boards. They write beautifully, the colors are so vibrant, and writing out your goals and affirmations in a pretty marker just makes the whole thing feel more intentional. I love having a whole set so everyone can pick their favorite colors.

3. Poster Board

You need a good surface to build your vision board on and this 10-pack of Vision board night28″ x 22″ white poster boards is perfect. The size is big enough that everyone has plenty of room to spread out and get creative, and having a 10-pack means you have more than enough for the whole family plus extras in case anyone wants to start over.

4. Elmer's Glue

Elmer’s glue is a must and there is really no substitute. Grab a few of these so everyone has their own and nobody is waiting around to glue things down. It dries clear, it is easy for kids to use, and it holds everything on the board exactly where you want it.

5. Kids Scissors

Safe scissors that actually cut well are essential when you have kids involved in a project like this. These kids scissors are perfect, they are easy for little hands to use and safe enough that you are not hovering the whole time. Have a pair of regular scissors on hand for the adults and you are all set.

6. Magazines and Pictures to Cut Out

This is really the heart of a vision board- the images! You can collect old newspapers and magazines from around the house or pick up a few at the store that catch your eye. If you want to make it even easier, this kit on Amazon has thousands of pictures to cut out and use which is so fun and means you have tons of options for every kind of goal. I love doing a mix of both, there is something really special about finding a picture in a magazine that feels like it was meant for your board.

7. Foam Stickers

vision board night 5This is the fun one that really brings everything to life! These foam stickers come in hearts, stars, and more and they are so perfect for decorating your vision board once everything is glued down. The kids especially love this part and it adds so much personality and color to every board. It is one of those little additions that takes your vision board from a school project to something really special.

Vision board nights are one of those activities that are just as meaningful for kids as they are for adults, and doing it together as a family makes it even more special. Hang everyone’s boards somewhere they can see them all year and watch how fun it is to look back at them and check things off. Happy creating, friends!

My dad was the American dream. He came to this co My dad was the American dream.

He came to this country from Egypt and built a life he could be proud of, becoming a successful business owner who owned three neighborhood bars. But to him, they were more than just bars. They were always home to familiar faces and gave people a place to go, especially on the holidays, when he would make sure everyone had a meal and a place to be.

He loved to go deep sea fishing, play video games at his bar, wear all white, put way too much sugar in his tea, smoke his Marlboro Lights, drink a Heineken, wear his 14k gold and always had wads of cash in his pockets.

But nothing put a bigger smile on his face than his grandchildren.

Losing both of my parents in six months is something I still can’t wrap my head around. It feels unimaginable. There are moments I don’t know how to process it all, or how life can possibly look the same without either of them.

But I find comfort in knowing that my dad is in heaven, and I know my mom was there to welcome him with open arms 🙏

I will miss you forever, Daddy. I love you ♥️

My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacef My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacefully and is no longer fighting a battle she has fought for so long.

Nothing in this world prepares you for the heartbreak of losing your mom. My mom was everything to me, and I know how incredibly lucky I have been all these years to have had her as my mother. She taught me how to work hard, to be independent, strong, and assertive.

She was a powerhouse. Tough and honest, but always fair. Her bark bigger than her bite. But let me tell you about the German stubbornness…all the way to the end. I was always so proud you were my mom. A mom who did everything, for everyone. But her favorite role was becoming Omi to my two littles.

It’s up to us to keep our loved ones’ memories alive. If you knew my mom, please comment your favorite memory of her. Some of the only laughs I’ve had recently have come from friends sharing their favorite moments with her over the years.

I promise to continue her legacy. To say her name. To teach my children what an incredible woman their Omi was and how deeply she loved them. While her proudest accomplishment was being a selfless mother to her two children, mine was being able to care for her over the last 11 years, the way she cared for me my entire life. I will forever cherish the moments we walked through the hard together.

Be free, Mom. You are out of pain now. No more suffering. Watch over us and send me the signs, I will look for you in everything we do and know you are shining down on us forever.

I love you. In Gottes Namen 🙏♥️
