Kids Travel Essentials for Summer Vacation: A Toddler Checklist You’ll Actually Use

Summer vacation season is here and if you have toddlers, you already know that a fun family trip requires a lot more than just packing a bag and hoping for the best. Our family loves to travel and we especially love a good Disneyland trip, but whether you are heading to a theme park, the zoo, or any summer outing, being prepared makes all the difference between a magical day and a really rough one.

Before we go anywhere, I always write down a checklist to make sure I have everything and don’t forget anything important. It has saved us so many times! I decided to put it all together here so you can have your own kids travel essentials for summer vacation checklist too. Save this, screenshot it, share it with another mom, because these are the items I never leave home without.

1. A Lightweight Travel Stroller

kids essentialsThis is at the top of every kids travel essentials for summer vacation list for good reason. A stroller that is lightweight and easy to pack up is a total game changer at places like Disneyland or any outdoor event where you are covering a lot of ground. You don’t want to be wrestling with a bulky stroller when you are trying to navigate a crowd.  easy to carry, and makes everything so much smoother.

2. A Portable Stroller Fan

kids travel essentialsHot summer days plus a tired toddler is not a fun combination. A portable fan that clips onto the stroller or can be held is one of those kids travel essentials for summer vacation that you don’t realize you need until you’re standing in a line at Disneyland in July. This fan is perfect for keeping little ones cool at theme parks, zoos, or any outdoor outing. Trust me, pack the fan.

3. A Portable White Noise Machine

kids travel essentialsIf you are hoping to sneak in a nap while you’re out and about, a portable white noise machine is your best friend. It helps drown out all the noise and commotion around you so your toddler can actually settle down and sleep even in a busy environment. This one is compact, easy to toss in a bag, and makes nap time on the go so much more realistic.

4. A Snack Catcher

If your kids are anything like mine, hangry toddlers are not fun and I will do absolutely anything to avoid it. A snack catcher is a kids travel essential for summer vacation that keeps snacks contained, easy to access, and off the ground. This one lets little hands reach in without dumping everything out, which means less mess and more happy kids. Keep it stocked at all times. You’ve been warned!

5. A Small Pack of Wipes

Stickiness leads to meltdowns. That is just a fact of toddler life. A small pack of wipes in your bag at all times is non-negotiable when it comes to kids travel essentials for summer vacation. I love this smaller pack because it doesn’t weigh your bag down but it’s there when you need it for sticky hands, spills, or whatever mess finds its way to your toddler that day.

6. A Portable Charger

A fully charged portable charger will be your absolute best friend on any family outing. Whether you need quick directions to find your way back to the parking lot or you need to pull up a video to keep the kids entertained for a few minutes, a dead phone is not an option. This portable charger is easy to throw in your bag and will save you more than once. Charge it the night before every single time.

My dad was the American dream. He came to this co My dad was the American dream.

He came to this country from Egypt and built a life he could be proud of, becoming a successful business owner who owned three neighborhood bars. But to him, they were more than just bars. They were always home to familiar faces and gave people a place to go, especially on the holidays, when he would make sure everyone had a meal and a place to be.

He loved to go deep sea fishing, play video games at his bar, wear all white, put way too much sugar in his tea, smoke his Marlboro Lights, drink a Heineken, wear his 14k gold and always had wads of cash in his pockets.

But nothing put a bigger smile on his face than his grandchildren.

Losing both of my parents in six months is something I still can’t wrap my head around. It feels unimaginable. There are moments I don’t know how to process it all, or how life can possibly look the same without either of them.

But I find comfort in knowing that my dad is in heaven, and I know my mom was there to welcome him with open arms 🙏

I will miss you forever, Daddy. I love you ♥️

My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacef My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacefully and is no longer fighting a battle she has fought for so long.

Nothing in this world prepares you for the heartbreak of losing your mom. My mom was everything to me, and I know how incredibly lucky I have been all these years to have had her as my mother. She taught me how to work hard, to be independent, strong, and assertive.

She was a powerhouse. Tough and honest, but always fair. Her bark bigger than her bite. But let me tell you about the German stubbornness…all the way to the end. I was always so proud you were my mom. A mom who did everything, for everyone. But her favorite role was becoming Omi to my two littles.

It’s up to us to keep our loved ones’ memories alive. If you knew my mom, please comment your favorite memory of her. Some of the only laughs I’ve had recently have come from friends sharing their favorite moments with her over the years.

I promise to continue her legacy. To say her name. To teach my children what an incredible woman their Omi was and how deeply she loved them. While her proudest accomplishment was being a selfless mother to her two children, mine was being able to care for her over the last 11 years, the way she cared for me my entire life. I will forever cherish the moments we walked through the hard together.

Be free, Mom. You are out of pain now. No more suffering. Watch over us and send me the signs, I will look for you in everything we do and know you are shining down on us forever.

I love you. In Gottes Namen 🙏♥️
