My Top 10 Must-Have Kitchen Items

must have kitchen items, best kitchen items, kitchen items everyone needs

When you have a busy life and schedule, making sure your must-have kitchen items are accessible can be such a game changer when it comes to properly using your kitchen to the best of its capabilities. Whether you’re a seasoned chef or an aspiring home cook, having the right tools at your disposal can make all the difference. From preparing quick weekday meals to hosting lavish dinner parties, the best kitchen items are those that seamlessly blend functionality, durability, and versatility.

In this guide, I’ll share my favorite kitchen items, essential for every cooking enthusiast. They don’t have to be top-of-the-line, but I truly believe that these are all kitchen items everyone needs at their fingertips. Having the best kitchen items truly makes the cooking process more efficient and enjoyable, just like having a new workout outfit helps get you to the gym just a little easier.

1. Chef's Knife

At the absolute top of my must-have kitchen items list is a chef’s knife. A high-quality chef’s knife is the cornerstone of any kitchen. Look for a sturdy, well-balanced blade that feels comfortable in your hand. A sharp knife not only makes chopping and slicing effortless but also ensures safety in the kitchen. This is the chef’s knife I use every day in my kitchen. It is handmade in Japan, ultra strong and extremely sharp. Use my code CASSIESCHIENLE for 20% off sitewide! This is an amazing price for the quality!

2. Cutting Board

Protect your countertops and extend the lifespan of your knives with a durable cutting board. Opt for one made from wood and NOT plastic, large enough to comfortably accommodate your ingredients without overcrowding. The large Boos Blocks wooden cutting boards are my absolute favorite cutting boards, but the composite cutting boards have been my go-to lately, they don’t contain plastic, so no microplastics getting into your food and you can throw them in the dishwasher for cleaning— this, to me, is a kitchen item everyone needs.

3. Cast Iron Skillet

Versatile and virtually indestructible, a cast iron skillet is a kitchen workhorse. From searing steaks to baking cornbread, its superior heat retention and even cooking make it a must-have for any home cook.

4. Non-Stick Saute Pan

Perfect for everything from stir-fries to scrambled eggs, a non-stick saute pan is indispensable in the kitchen. This hybrid fry pan has been the pan I reach for every day, it works like a stainless-steel pan, but the easy clean up of a nonstick! And it is scratch-resistant!

5. Mixing Bowls

A set of mixing bowls in various sizes is essential for meal prep and baking. Choose bowls made from stainless steel or glass for durability and ease of cleaning, these glass bowls are my favorite to use! They come in a set of 10 and they are microwave and dishwasher friendly, which makes them a kitchen item everyone needs!

These versatile tools are heat-resistant, flexible, and perfect for everything from scraping bowls to cleaning hard-to-reach spots. This set of silicone spatulas with stainless steel handles are durable and super functional for everyday cooking and baking.

7. Measuring Cups and Spoons

Accurate measurements are key to successful cooking and baking. Invest in a set of sturdy liquid measuring cups and spoons to ensure precision in your recipes.

Choose one with multiple speed settings and a powerful motor for maximum versatility. This 7-cup food processor is the perfect for beginner cooks or small families! It comes with different blades for slicing and shredding.

9. Instant-Read Thermometer

Quick and accurate temperature readings ensure that your dishes are cooked to perfection every time, and ensures you are cooking your meats to the desired temperatures. A meat thermometer is definitely an underrated kitchen tool on my list of best kitchen items!

10. Storage Containers

Keep your pantry organized and your leftovers fresh with a set of high-quality glass storage containers. Look for containers that are microwave and dishwasher-safe, with airtight lids to prevent spills and leaks.

My dad was the American dream. He came to this co My dad was the American dream.

He came to this country from Egypt and built a life he could be proud of, becoming a successful business owner who owned three neighborhood bars. But to him, they were more than just bars. They were always home to familiar faces and gave people a place to go, especially on the holidays, when he would make sure everyone had a meal and a place to be.

He loved to go deep sea fishing, play video games at his bar, wear all white, put way too much sugar in his tea, smoke his Marlboro Lights, drink a Heineken, wear his 14k gold and always had wads of cash in his pockets.

But nothing put a bigger smile on his face than his grandchildren.

Losing both of my parents in six months is something I still can’t wrap my head around. It feels unimaginable. There are moments I don’t know how to process it all, or how life can possibly look the same without either of them.

But I find comfort in knowing that my dad is in heaven, and I know my mom was there to welcome him with open arms 🙏

I will miss you forever, Daddy. I love you ♥️

My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacef My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacefully and is no longer fighting a battle she has fought for so long.

Nothing in this world prepares you for the heartbreak of losing your mom. My mom was everything to me, and I know how incredibly lucky I have been all these years to have had her as my mother. She taught me how to work hard, to be independent, strong, and assertive.

She was a powerhouse. Tough and honest, but always fair. Her bark bigger than her bite. But let me tell you about the German stubbornness…all the way to the end. I was always so proud you were my mom. A mom who did everything, for everyone. But her favorite role was becoming Omi to my two littles.

It’s up to us to keep our loved ones’ memories alive. If you knew my mom, please comment your favorite memory of her. Some of the only laughs I’ve had recently have come from friends sharing their favorite moments with her over the years.

I promise to continue her legacy. To say her name. To teach my children what an incredible woman their Omi was and how deeply she loved them. While her proudest accomplishment was being a selfless mother to her two children, mine was being able to care for her over the last 11 years, the way she cared for me my entire life. I will forever cherish the moments we walked through the hard together.

Be free, Mom. You are out of pain now. No more suffering. Watch over us and send me the signs, I will look for you in everything we do and know you are shining down on us forever.

I love you. In Gottes Namen 🙏♥️
