The holidays are my favorite time of the year, but along with it can come a lot of headaches and stress, so I wanted to share my family travel tips for a fun outing to the pumpkin patches this Halloween season. Pumpkin patches always have so many fun things to do during your family outing like games, carving stations, holiday themed treats and more!
If you live in Orange County, we love going to the Irvine Park Pumpkin Patch or Tanaka Farms Pumpkin Patch.
In Los Angeles, the Underwood Family Farms have their annual Fall Harvest Festival every year that features tractor-drawn wagon rides, corn mazes, pumpkin displays and pig races.
1. Go Early
When I say go early, I suggest visiting your community pumpkin patches early during the day and early during the Halloween season. And go during the week if you can! Families generally wait to visit the pumpkin patches way too close to Halloween and the end of October.
To beat the crowds, go the first two weeks of October, many even open now in late September. Get there when they first open the gates to avoid the crowds and if you can, always go during the week when most children are in school, which is probably always the best tip when it comes to family travel tips and family outings.
And getting there early gives you the best pick of the pumpkins!
2. Wear Closed Toe Shoes
Most pumpkin patches are at some type of farm, which is always dusty and dirty. Make sure everyone is wearing appropriate footwear for the day of fun that are comfortable too!
3. Water & Snacks
While most pumpkin patches offer fun and yummy Halloween treats for sale during your family outing, make sure to bring water and a bag of snacks when you or your little one get hungry! Don’t forget your water bottles and snack bags at home!
4. Wagons
Not only do these amazing wagons help cart your kids around easily, but there is also enough room to store your pumpkins in them when you pick the perfect one!
This post was all about family travel adventures and family travel tips when going to the Pumpkin Patch this Halloween season.
