With the anticipation of welcoming your newborn home, it is important to prepare as much as possible, so that when you bring your baby home from the hospital, you can enjoy every moment without having to worry about if you have enough diapers, onesies, or diaper rash cream. I have put together the ultimate newborn essentials checklist for you to make this part of the process as easy as possible.
Sleep
When it comes to sleep-for you AND baby-this is super important. It is recommended that the baby stays in a bassinet in your room for the first 6 months.
Snoo Smart Sleeper Bassinet
Approved crib/bassinet: I can’t recommend the Snoo Smart Sleeper Bassinet enough. It is pricey, but I felt like if it got us one extra hour of sleep a night, it was money well spent.

Fitted Crib Sheets

Sleep Sacks
Once transitioned out of swaddles, these are my absolutely favorite sleep sacks, they are so soft and cozy and come in different TOG ratings for cooler and warmer weather.
Nightlight
This nightlight is for YOU, not your baby. This egg shaped dimming and cordless nightlight is the perfect companion for middle of the night feeds and diaper changes, as its touch feature makes it simple to turn on.
Strollers
The UPPAbaby Vista V2 stroller is one of the most popular choices. We chose this stroller, because it allows for multiple configurations, allowing us to transport two children at once.
Right now, the Doona convertible infant car seat/stroller combo is probably the most popular, as it is an all-in-one travel system that includes an infant car seat with its own compact stroller and integrated wheels built into the base.
Newborn Car Seat
The UPPAbaby MESA V2 infant car seat make the transfer from car seat to stroller super seamless, attaching to the VISTA stroller without adapters. This car seat is suitable for infants 4-35lbs and up to 32” in height.
Toddler Car Seat
When our daughter outgrew her newborn car seat, we transitioned her to the Nuna RAVA car seat. This car seat is one that can grow with your newborn and is safe for children 5-50lbs rear facing and 25-65lbs forward facing, up to 49” in height.
Diapers & Changing tables
This easy to clean diaper changing pad is one of my favorites, as all you have to do is wipe down to clean, no need for changing pad covers. It’s soft and makes for changing diapers so super quick and easy.
Baby wipes
These plant-based WaterWipes are the only baby wipes that I like to use and it’s probably one of our most used items every day. They’re 99.9% water based with a drop of fruit extract, they’re safe for premature and newborn baby’s skin, are plant-based and are hypoallergenic.
Diaper Rash Cream
This diaper rash cream is super effective at treating and protecting diaper rash on babies. We have tubes of this in our nursery, diaper bag and in all of our changing stations around the house. We always apply the diaper rash cream with this silicone bum brush diaper cream applicator to keep our hands clean and to apply the cream thicker, smoother and faster.
Diaper Pail
This diaper pail is made of steel with an airtight lid for maximum odor control. No special bag is needed, making it easy to use and comes in a bunch of colors and patterns, for a sleek and modern look.
Bath Time
Baby Bathtub
We loved using this infant tub, because it has a built in water thermometer and digital scale. It allows for two positions, so it easily coverts from newborn to toddler and has anti-slip pads that keeps baby securely in place and provides extra comfort to the infant.
Baby Bath Towel
This cozy bath towel will keep your little one warm, while looking adorable at the same time.
Bath Products
This nighttime baby bath, body and shampoo contains lavender and vanilla scents to help soothe and relax baby before bedtime and formulated with natural oat extract to soothe baby’s skin. This tear-free wash and shampoo solution helps make bath time easy.
Washcloths
Having a few soft washcloths for bath time is always important, but no need to go overboard with these, one or two sets is more than enough.
Feeding
Hands-down, this is one of my favorite new discoveries, the My Brest Friend nursing pillow. All other nursing pillows were not as comfortable, would slip, not offer enough support, etc, etc, I could go on and on…the Super Deluxe nursing pillow has enhanced wrap-around back support ensuring comfort and ideal positioning, increased height and thickness bringing the baby closer to the breast and offers lumbar support so mom is in the right position. This nursing pillow was a game-changer for me.
Breast Pump
When it came to pumping, I always used the popular choice for a breast pump and I cannot lie…I never enjoyed pumping. But I started using the Haakaa manual breast pump while I was feeding my son, and I was pleasantly surprised how much breastmilk I was easily able to collect during feedings.
Baby Bottle Brush
Cleaning baby bottles can seem never-ending, but these helpful bottle brushes to clean all of the small nooks and crannies is so helpful. This fragrance-free, baby-friendly soap is perfect for cleaning baby bottles, it is made with award-winning Green Technology to target milk residue and uses baking soda to combat odor.
Clothes
When babies are born, you really don’t need too much when it comes to clothes, our babies lived in footed jammies morning, noon and night.

Nail Clippers
I had a huge fear of cutting my newborn’s nails after a not so fortunate incident with my puppy, but these baby nail clippers take all the anxiety and fear away when it comes to cutting the nails of a newborn.
