My Must-Have Kitchen Items That Double As Winter Decor

During the winter time, I love making my kitchen feel extra cozy without packing it full of seasonal clutter. That’s where must-have kitchen items that double as decor really shine. These are pieces that are simple, but also help create that winter-ready vibe and festivity during the holiday season. Plus with living in California where it doesn’t snow, this is my opportunity to bring that winter vibe to our home during the holiday season.

The trick is choosing the best kitchen items that look good sitting out on your counters, shelves, or table. Bonus points if they are something that double as something practical or useful in your kitchen!

1. Ceramic Mugs on Display

Winter is peak mug season. Displaying mugs on open shelves makes your kitchen feel cozy while keeping one of the best kitchen items within reach for hot drinks. I can also never turn down a matching set of cute mugs! These mugs that have skiers on them from West Elm are absolutely adorable.

2. Decorative Kitchen Towels

Swap out your regular kitchen towels for soft neutrals, plaids, or wintery type patterns. These small must-have kitchen items instantly lean into winter decor without effort. I love these from Pottery Barn that have snowflakes on them but still keep with the neutral vibe.

3. Marble Tray

A tray corrals oils, salt, pepper, or candles while making your counter look styled instead of cluttered. Add a small candle in winter to enhance the cozy vibe or use it for charcuterie! I love this one that is shaped like a snowflake or this one that is shaped like a tree.

4. Candle for Cozy Ambiance

A scented candle (think warm vanilla, cinnamon, or pine) instantly elevates your kitchen’s winter feel. Place it on a tray or next to your mugs—it’s one of those must-have kitchen items that sets the mood and makes your space smell as good as it looks. These mosaic ones from Anthropology could be used all year round but seem especially perfect for winter. Or this one that is also from Anthropology that has snowflakes on the outside.

5. Salt and Pepper Shakers That Pull Double Duty

Don’t underestimate the power of cute salt and pepper shakers! These tiny must-have kitchen items are on your table or counter every day, so they might as well look great while doing it. Choose a style that fits your winter decor vibe. Whether you go minimalist or with ones that look like snowmen like these, stylish shakers are a perfect example of kitchen items that function beautifully and boost the cozy feel of your space.

6. Terracotta Snowman Centerpiece

must-have kitchen itemsTerracotta snowman like these make the sweetest winter centerpiece for your kitchen or dining table. Its natural, earthy texture blends beautifully with wood, ceramic, and neutral tones, making it feel subtle rather than over-the-top seasonal. Place them on a tray with a candle or greenery for a simple winter decor moment that feels warm and charming. While it’s more decorative than functional, it pairs perfectly with your must-have kitchen items and helps tie the whole cozy winter look together without overwhelming the space.

What I love about these must-have kitchen items is that they don’t feel like decorations you’ll want to pack away after the season ends. They’re everyday essentials that just happen to complement winter decor beautifully. Choosing the best kitchen items with natural materials and neutral tones makes your kitchen feel calm, cozy, and pulled together.

You don’t need to overhaul your kitchen to make it feel winter-ready. A few thoughtfully chosen must-have kitchen items can do double duty, keeping your space functional while subtly embracing winter decor. Stick with pieces you’ll actually use, and your kitchen will feel warm, inviting, and effortlessly styled all season long.

My dad was the American dream. He came to this co My dad was the American dream.

He came to this country from Egypt and built a life he could be proud of, becoming a successful business owner who owned three neighborhood bars. But to him, they were more than just bars. They were always home to familiar faces and gave people a place to go, especially on the holidays, when he would make sure everyone had a meal and a place to be.

He loved to go deep sea fishing, play video games at his bar, wear all white, put way too much sugar in his tea, smoke his Marlboro Lights, drink a Heineken, wear his 14k gold and always had wads of cash in his pockets.

But nothing put a bigger smile on his face than his grandchildren.

Losing both of my parents in six months is something I still can’t wrap my head around. It feels unimaginable. There are moments I don’t know how to process it all, or how life can possibly look the same without either of them.

But I find comfort in knowing that my dad is in heaven, and I know my mom was there to welcome him with open arms 🙏

I will miss you forever, Daddy. I love you ♥️

My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacef My beautiful mom went to heaven. She passed peacefully and is no longer fighting a battle she has fought for so long.

Nothing in this world prepares you for the heartbreak of losing your mom. My mom was everything to me, and I know how incredibly lucky I have been all these years to have had her as my mother. She taught me how to work hard, to be independent, strong, and assertive.

She was a powerhouse. Tough and honest, but always fair. Her bark bigger than her bite. But let me tell you about the German stubbornness…all the way to the end. I was always so proud you were my mom. A mom who did everything, for everyone. But her favorite role was becoming Omi to my two littles.

It’s up to us to keep our loved ones’ memories alive. If you knew my mom, please comment your favorite memory of her. Some of the only laughs I’ve had recently have come from friends sharing their favorite moments with her over the years.

I promise to continue her legacy. To say her name. To teach my children what an incredible woman their Omi was and how deeply she loved them. While her proudest accomplishment was being a selfless mother to her two children, mine was being able to care for her over the last 11 years, the way she cared for me my entire life. I will forever cherish the moments we walked through the hard together.

Be free, Mom. You are out of pain now. No more suffering. Watch over us and send me the signs, I will look for you in everything we do and know you are shining down on us forever.

I love you. In Gottes Namen 🙏♥️
