In anticipation of your little one’s arrival, decorating your soon-to-be baby’s nursery, whether it’s a baby boys nursery or baby girls nursery, there are so many things that can be done that are not too overwhelming and can add so much life to the space. I feel like it is super important to create a space that can grow with your child through the years, and it was very important for my baby boys nursery to be decorated in a way that he wouldn’t outgrow in a few short years. I had the honor of having my best friend, Christina Hall, star of HGTV’s Christina on the Coast, design my baby boys nursery, but you can use the same great ideas she did for our space and recreate them in yours!
This post is all about my baby boys nursery and how we brought it to life.
Accent Wall
One of the first ideas we wanted to do was to transform the white walls with one wall that could be a focal point of my son’s nursery. We decided to do that with decorative paneling that was created with 1” x 2” wooden trim. We wanted it to pop, so we decided to go with paint in a beautiful blue hue that we knew we could play off for the rest of the space.
To finish off the accent wall, we chose a wooden cutout name sign in birch so it would pop off the blue wall. This custom sign is affordable, comes in different sizes and fonts and ships very quickly! You can have the most creative of baby boy names and still be able to order a name plate sign, as each sign is custom made.
Nursery Décor
My husband, James, wanted to go the baseball-themed route when it came to our baby boys nursery, but I feared that it would be baseball themed sheets, posters, lights, blankets and baseballs just thrown everywhere…but I knew my best friend would have the perfect touches of baseball intertwined in the nursery décor to be elevated and stylish, but age-appropriate when it came the baby boy nursery décor.
The nursery was decorated with a baseball shaped pillow, baseball glove-colored baskets, baseball gloves-which held a foul ball from my daughter’s first Dodgers game, and so many cute stuffed animals and pieces of décor that filled the nursery with a warmth that made it just feel so special.
Lighting
Part of the room transformation was simply swapping out the black ceiling fan for this gorgeous birdcage bamboo rattan ceiling light by Leanne Ford. This stunning ceiling light features slender bamboo circling the three-tiered iron frame, washed in a dreamy white hue and artfully fastened in place by woven rattan.
