It feels like yesterday that my daughter was just born, so it is hard to comprehend that I am already celebrating my son, Jameson’s 3 month old milestones! Time has been flying by and I wish it would slow down, but I blink and it’s a new week! Seeing Jameson grow and develop has been so fun, especially watching develop since he was born and now seeing him hit so many 3 month old milestones keeps us entertained all day long, even when we’re super sleepy from not so sleepy nights.
This post is all about my son’s 3 month old milestones.
Sleep Regression
Like any other 3 month old boy, Jameson has been keeping us on our toes at all times-day and night. Speaking of nights, I know they talk about a “4 month sleep regression” but I feel like it happens much sooner, as least that is my experience with my children. A typical 3 month old sleep schedule has about 4 naps, with a bedtime around 7PM or 7:30PM, with naps lasting around 1-2 hours…but our sweet 3 month old boy loves cat naps, and that means at night too! We get a decent stretch of sleep when we put him down at night, but starting around midnight, he wants to wake up every 1-2 hours. I know this is very normal, so we are just going with the flow, but it for sure makes the days rough, thank God for coffee!
Rolling Over
One of my favorite memories when Jules was this age and her 3 month old milestones, was watching her roll over! Jules rolled over right before she turned 3 months old, so I knew Jameson’s turn was right around the corner! And as soon as we placed Jameson down on his playmat for tummy time right when he turned 3 months, he shocked us all and rolled right over without any warning!
His neck muscles have gained so much strength and holding his head up and turning his head from side to side is no problem for him at this point, which I know has helped in learning how to roll!
Bringing Hands to Mouth
If you see my 3 month old boy awake, chances are, his hands are in his mouth! This is one of the typical 3 month old milestones there are, as he learns to explore with is hands. This has caused him to drool constantly, so much so, that I was asking myself, “Is my 3 month old teething?” I don’t think he’s teething, but I quickly purchased several muslin bibs that are soft so we could quickly change them out as needed!
